A new Scary Movie officially in the works
Paramount and Miramax have announced that a new Scary Movie is in the works. During their presentation at CinemaCon, Paramount confirmed that a new entry in the Scary Movie franchise is being developed by Neal H. Moritz, the producer of the Fast and Furious series.
No confirmed cast members yet
As of now, it is unclear whether or not any of the original cast members will be returning for the new film. The first four Scary Movie films starred Anna Faris and Regina Hall, with Marlon and Shawn Wayans also appearing in two of the five films. However, no details have been revealed regarding the cast for the upcoming movie.
A decade of silence
The last Scary Movie installment was released in 2013, marking more than a decade of silence for the franchise. The first Scary Movie film premiered in 2000 and was a slasher parody that satirized popular horror films like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer. The franchise quickly expanded with sequels released in 2001, 2003, and 2006.
A successful franchise
The Scary Movie franchise enjoyed great success during its initial run, earning over $890 million worldwide. This success also paved the way for numerous parody films in other genres, such as Superhero Movie, Meet the Spartans, and Epic Movie.
Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming Scary Movie and its cast as development progresses.
